Y’all, I cannot believe I never shared this with my gardening fam!
So, my nephew — the one who is pickier than most teenagers I’ve ever met — came over to visit. Now, this boy does not eat just anything. If it’s not exactly how he likes it, he’ll pass without a second thought. But when he asked me to make my biscuits (and it’s been a while since I’ve made them), I knew I had to bring my A-game.
Well… let me tell you… they were everything. The kind of biscuits that just melt in your mouth, soft on the inside, golden on the outside. And this is coming from my picky-eater nephew who went back for more — that’s how I knew I had something special here.
These are not your everyday biscuits. They’re rich, buttery, slightly sweet, and perfect for a weekend brunch or special breakfast. I’ll warn you — once you taste them, you’ll be looking for excuses to make them again.

Melt-in-Your-Mouth Sweet Butter Biscuits Recipe
Servings: 12 biscuits
Prep Time: 15 minutes (plus optional chill time)
Bake Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 30–45 minutes
Ingredients
• 3 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 tablespoon baking soda
• 2 tablespoons sugar (for dough)
• 1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature (for dough)
• 1/4 cup buttermilk
• 1 stick unsalted butter, melted (for topping)
• 1–2 tablespoons sugar (for topping)
⸻
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven – Set your oven to 425°F.
2. Mix the Dry Ingredients – In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, baking soda, and 2 tablespoons of sugar.
3. Cut in the Butter – Add the room temperature butter to the dry mix. Use a pastry cutter, fork, or your hands to work it in until it resembles coarse crumbs.
4. Add the Buttermilk – Pour in the buttermilk and gently mix until just combined. Don’t overwork the dough — you want tender biscuits.
5. Shape and Cut – Turn dough out onto a floured surface. Pat (don’t roll) it to about 1-inch thickness. Use a biscuit cutter or glass to cut out biscuits.
6. Chill for Extra Fluff (Optional) – If you have time, place cut biscuits on a baking sheet and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes. This helps them rise higher in the oven.
7. Prepare the Pan – Place biscuits in a buttered baking dish or pan, making sure they touch each other. This helps them rise evenly.
8. Bake – Bake for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown. (Ovens vary, so keep an eye on them.)
9. Make the Sweet Butter Glaze – While biscuits bake, combine melted butter with 1–2 tablespoons of sugar in a small bowl. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
10. Finish with Sweet Butter – As soon as biscuits come out of the oven, brush generously with the sweet butter glaze.

Tips for Biscuit Success
• Cold ingredients = flaky biscuits. Even if you skip the fridge step, keep your buttermilk cold.
• Don’t twist the cutter when cutting biscuits — just press straight down for the best rise.
• Serve warm for the ultimate melt-in-your-mouth experience.

These biscuits are definitely a “treat yourself” kind of recipe — rich, tender, and just sweet enough to make you close your eyes and savor every bite. They’re perfect alongside a big breakfast, with fresh jam, or honestly… all by themselves.
And if my super picky nephew says they’re good? You know they’re worth making.
