Naava’s Caprese Pasta Salad – The Twist You Didn’t Know You Needed

Some recipes just happen because you want something fresh. Others… they happen because your kid takes one bite and says,


|“Momma… the flavors just melt in my mouth.”


That’s when you know you’ve got something special.


This Caprese Pasta Salad started with the traditional ingredients we all know and love—tomatoes, mozzarella, basil—but then I got a little creative. I wanted something that still felt light and summery, but with more depth and a few surprise pops of flavor.



So here’s what happened:


  • I swapped plain olive oil for shrimp-infused olive oil. It’s subtle, but it adds a warm, savory richness that plain EVOO just can’t match.

  • I tossed in pickled capers for a briny little kick that cuts through the creaminess of the mozzarella.

  • Fresh green onions from my garden added brightness and crunch.

  • A sprinkle of Za’atar brought in earthy, herby notes that pair beautifully with basil.



And then… the finale. A drizzle of balsamic glaze that ties it all together.




It’s fresh. It’s briny. It’s herby. And according to my daughter Yasmin, “it just melts in your mouth.”


  • Típ: use a high protein or gluten free pasta if you have other needs! And as with all of my recipes adjust it so it’s comfortable for your home.


Whether you serve it as a side dish or enjoy it as a light meal all on its own, this salad is the kind of recipe that’ll have you sneaking back for seconds—and maybe even thirds.
