There’s something about a warm, gooey cinnamon roll that just feels like a hug from the inside out. But when you swirl in juicy summer peaches and finish it off with a peach-kissed cream cheese icing? Baby, that’s not just a hug — that’s a whole mood.

This recipe was born one morning in my kitchen when I had some fresh peaches on the counter and a craving for something cozy but seasonal. What I came up with is a tender, brown butter dough wrapped around sweet cinnamon-sugar and fresh shredded peaches, then topped with a luscious cream cheese icing made with real peach jam.

These Peaches & Cream Cinnamon Rolls are the perfect cross between summer brightness and Southern comfort. Warm, gooey, fruity, and buttery — it’s giving “sweet tooth satisfied” and “Sunday morning bliss.”

And the best part? You don’t need fancy tools or even fresh peach jam on hand. You can make your own right in the pan while the dough rises. I promise this one’s worth every second.

Ingredients

For the Dough:

• ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, browned

• 4 tbsp unsalted butter (extra)

• 1 cup warm buttermilk (115–120°F)

• ½ cup granulated sugar, divided

• 2¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry or instant yeast

• 2 large eggs

• 1 tsp peach extract (or vanilla)

• 4¾ to 5 cups all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)

• 1 tsp salt

For the Filling:

• 1 cup packed dark brown sugar

• 2 medium peaches, shredded (~¾ cup)

• 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

• 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

• Reserved peach juice + 1 heaping tsp buttermilk powder (whisked)

— OR — ⅓ cup heavy whipping cream

For the Cream Cheese Peach Icing:

• 8 oz cream cheese, softened

• 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

• 1–2 cups powdered sugar (your preference)

• 2 tsp peach extract (or vanilla)

• ½–¾ cup peach jam*

• 1 tsp buttermilk powder

To make the peach jam: Combine 2 chopped peaches and ½ cup sugar in a saucepan. Cook on medium until thick and jammy. Optional: a splash of lemon juice. Let cool.

Instructions

1. Make the Dough

Start by browning your butter. Melt ½ cup in a small saucepan over medium heat until golden brown and nutty (about 5 minutes). Let it cool slightly.

In a small bowl, stir the warm buttermilk, 1 tbsp sugar, and yeast. Let it sit 5–10 minutes until bubbly.

In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, remaining sugar, and browned butter. Pour in your yeast mixture. Slowly mix in the flour and salt until a soft dough forms. Knead by hand (8–10 minutes) or with a mixer (5–6 minutes) until smooth and elastic.

Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1½ hours, or until doubled. (I like to use the “proof” setting on my oven — it’s faster.)

2. Make the Filling

While the dough rises, mix brown sugar, shredded peaches, and cinnamon in a bowl.

Roll your dough into a large rectangle (about 18x12 inches). Spread softened butter evenly over the surface, then sprinkle on the peach mixture.

3. Roll + Slice

Start at the long edge and roll tightly into a log. Slice into 12 even rolls using a sharp knife or dental floss.

Place rolls into a greased baking dish and drizzle with your peach juice + buttermilk powder mixture (or use heavy cream). Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes.

⸻

4. Bake

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and baked through.

5. Make the Icing

Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and buttermilk powder, then stir in peach jam and extract. Ice the rolls generously while still warm so everything melts into those gorgeous swirls.

Final Thoughts

This is more than just a cinnamon roll. It’s summertime in every bite — bright peachy notes, warm spice, soft dough, creamy topping. It’s the kind of treat you make when you want to remind yourself (or your humans) that simple, joyful food still exists.

Whether you’re bringing a pan to brunch, gifting them to a neighbor, or just baking for the love of it… these rolls will make it worth the extra dish or two in the sink. And that’s the kind of magic I like to keep in my kitchen.
